Press Release - Recruitment Day

Recruitment Day at Sunshine Cooperative

We are holding a recruitment day on Friday 4th of February 2022, between 10am and 2pm. If you are 18+ and are from the North Area or East Area of the city, come and learn about our Sunshine Training Academy.

The Sunshine Training Academy will provide you with employability skills, assisting you onto the ladder of full time employment. You will have the chance to engage in sustainable business practices as well as customer service and positive communication skills. We will help you to gain general skills needed to work in retail and if you dream of having your own business, we will help you to develop that entrepreneurial spirit. Our aim is to create a community of hope and inspiration, letting us provide you with that extra step towards employment.

Now, more than ever, young people face so many barriers to finding work and getting that work experience. With a lot of jobs requiring you to be 18 years of age, and/or have at least a years worth of experience, young people aren't able to get the experience needed, and therefore can't get into work. As well as this, those who have large gaps in their CV due to being out of work to focus on other commitments, such as mothers raising new-borns, or those of who aren't from this country and haven't been able to acquire any work experience yet. Our recruitment day is an opportunity for people of all backgrounds to gain experience and an understanding of the work environment, building up your teamwork and communication skills along the way.

A little bit about us - At Sunshine Cooperative, we provide affordable, accessible, and healthy food to create a community that has a stronger sense of health and well-being, in store and online. We are a non-profit organisation meaning the profit we do make goes straight back into the community, allowing us to be your local, one stop shop for all things local and sustainable, helping Northeast producers thrive whilst providing you with high-quality goods with minimal food processing.

We know the difficulties of starting work and the progress it takes to build a business, so by running the Sunshine Training Academy and providing you with the necessary skills to enter into employment, it let's you build up your skills within an optimistic and friendly environment.

If you aren't able to make February 4th, that's okay! We are holding a recruitment day every two weeks afterwards, and if you aren't able to make these dates / times, please get in touch and we will be happy to provide you with a new date and time to meet.
